Oh, baby, I'm so sorry you're not feeling well. Unfortnately, I have no soup specialties. The closest I come to savory cooking is making Cambell's Tomato Soup with milk instead of water.

I'm a terrible cook, but for my throat I suggest green tea with lots and lots of honey. Mmmmmm. My throat wants to get raw just thinking about it.

Okay how weird is it that someone else posted a link to Pix's joy of soup post before I did... even weirder is that it wasn't Pix herself... is there some sort of cult thing going on that I should know about?

Yup, I was just going to post Pix's soup post too.

if you're after a sore throat cure more than general nourishment, go with betadine. it's an iodine-based gargle that you dilute with water. 20mls and one gargle later, no more sore throat!
or gargle with salt water. often. it sounds gross but it's the best way to get rid of a sore throat.
sore throats are a right pain. hope you feel better soon

the salt-water gargle cure is rtuly one of the better things on earth. especially if the water is warm (or, if you're like me and tend to do things in extremes, approaching the scalding point).
otherwise, well. you take a chicken breast and grill it. a few white mushrooms and an onion, sautéed in a small amount of oil. a bay leaf. a few cups of water and some herbs - herbes de provence are good, fines herbes are good, just plain old basil and salt and pepper are good. cut up the grilled chicken, dump everything in a pot, bring water to boil, add a bit of milk and a bouillon cube if desired, keep tasting. i also like to add cayenne pepper. because it's all about the hot.
:)
feel better soon.

So as it turns out, I was at Price Club (Costco, for those of you that want to be anal about it) and saw chicken tortilla soup (my favo(u)rite) for 0.14 cents an ounce, the cheapest I have ever seen anything cost in my entire life. (When I am at Price Club, I don't actually look at the total price of anything, just the price per ounce). I bought the extremely cheap soup realizing only later that the reason it is only 0.14 per ounce is because it makes altogether 48 oz. of soup! That is way too much! What was I thinking buying enough tortilla soup (which by the way, does not contain tortillas) to feed the entire Mexican population for a year (ok, that was mean). The prospect of experiencing the monotony that is likely to ensue from eating the same kind of soup in "12 8-oz. servings" may in fact kill me. So long story short, (please, for the love of God) have some of my soup to make your throat feel better. It's conveniently located on the middle and bottom shelf of our refrigerator in two large tubs.
