My boss isn't here this week, so HELLO, INTERNET! Can you hear me, Jen? No, you can't, can you? 'Cause you're in SPAIN. Can't fire me from Spain, can ya? Ha, ha!
Sooo ... hey, blog, what's up? Life is boring. It almost feels like I need a new job, but I don't, I have a good job and a good team and great management.
I think it's coming to this horrible office building every morning. Here is what it looks like from the outside. On the inside, picture a Jersey mall, except intead of Nine West and the Gap and Sunglasses Hut it's CVS, GMC, and a drycleaner that also sells umbrellas. That's the ground floor stuff I pass every morning and evening on my way to or from the PATH train. (For anyone who hasn't ridden the NY-NJ commuter train, it basically look likes this on the outside and this on the inside.)
I can't convey precisely what the officey part of my building looks like - the lobby with its irritable, half-awake security guards, the poorly-functioning elevators that always have dirty kleenex strewn in the corners, the ID card swipers (who swipes anymore?! it's so antiquated), and finally the office itself with the noncirculating air and the old furnishings and the undrinkable coffee and the ancient telephones and the bad attitudes and the horrid women's restroom that is ALWAYS FILTHY in spite of the lovely cleaning lady's best intentions. Suffice to say it blows.
At least, today, I have the internet, since big boss lady is gone. Which is great, because I'm reading Edgar Stiles obits, checking Go Fug Yourself for Oscar updates, and continuing my mission to find hilarious quotes about "Crash." (I think Defamer is winning so far with its comment that the original song nominee's performance, with a car burning in the flames of racism and multi-culti couples reenacting scenes from the movie in slow-mo interpretive dance, was about three hundred times more subtle than the film itself.) No, I haven't seen it. What.
